A nice little collection, and it's inspired me with a few ideas for a side-scroller of my own! There's definitely a time and a place for side-scrolling sites and it's not a good idea for 90% of sites for sure - but for portfolios and some photo-blogs I think it's perfect. They need mouse-wheel support though, without that they get the thumbs down from me...

I think that you really have a point about the horizontal sites being more artistic and creative. I for one haven't even thought about making any sites horizontal. But then again, i'm not creative in any way. :)

I'm much more accustomed to vertical scrolling, but I have never designed a horizontal scrolling site before. Maybe, I will give it a try and see how it works.

The scrollbar is actually necessary -- your page is too wide for the screen to display without scrolling.Also, you cannot change the scrollbar style in Firefox. This is because messing with the scrollbar can go against the visitor's [skin choices and preferences. If you absolutely want to change the scrollbar style, you can probably wrap the whole page in a div the size of theviewport, disable the default scrollbars, and implement your own scrollbars using DOM, Javascript, CSS, ...
